Republican delegate awaits July convention

-

As a 2008 Republican National Committee alternate delegate, I am honored and privileged to have been elected as a [19th District] delegate for the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this July.

Thinking back to 2008 in Minnesota, I recall a whirlwind of activities― early morning breakfast meetings, speakers, meeting the candidates, and activities with other delegates, including a LeAnn Rimes concert, a tour of the Cathedral of St. Paul and shopping at the Mall of America―what a sight that was, a rollercoaster inside a mall!

One moment stands out―when male delegates gave their passes to female alternates and guests so only women were on the convention floor, waiving orange scarves, when the state of Florida was announced. I still have that scarf tucked away with other memorabilia.

As I think ahead to this year’s convention and as a native Clevelander, I am excited to head “home” to see family and friends. Although I am certain the planned activities will be wonderful, I am looking forward to representing Florida’s Congressional District 19, discussing rules and procedures and, of course, meeting our presidential nominee.

I believe this year’s convention may go down as one of the most memorable in history. Republican delegate Lisa A. Musial is a Cape Coral attorney with Musial & Musial, LLC, practicing in Florida and Ohio with her brother, Mark, and their father, Norman. She is also a foster parent.
