Den­tal prac­tice strives for friend­li­ness, will ex­tend days on Sani­bel

Alan Rembos came to Sani­bel to va­ca­tion. And like so many oth­ers, he chose to stay in South­west Florida, bring­ing a wealth of pa­tient-care ex­pe­ri­ence from his home­town Chicago. “We’ve al­ways been about keep­ing the per­sonal touch,” says Rembos, a North­west­ern Univer­sity Den­tal School alum who will open his Sani­bel offic e four days per week start­ing this fall. He also has den­tal of­fices in Fort My­ers, Marco and Naples. “Al­ways about friendly peo­ple.”

There’s some­thing about a smile, a pos­i­tive and healthy smile that turns heads, keeps the owner healthy and feel­ing good for life. Dr. Rembos be­gins new pa­tients with an ini­tial ex­am­i­na­tion, pro­vid­ing an over­view of treat­ment and care se­lec­tions. He and his staff are rec­og­nized as “best of” in South­west Florida in nu­mer­ous cat­e­gories such as gen­eral and rou­tine den­tistry, im­plants, orthodon­tics, whiten­ings, ve­neers, cos­metic, oral surgery, emer­gen­cies, com­put­er­ized anes­the­sia, pain man­age­ment, root canal treat­ments, and other care listings meet­ing each need and wish. It’s im­por­tant to visit a qual­ity den­tist such as Dr. Rembos: Gum dis­ease is par­tic­u­larly dev­as­tat­ing―and com­mon. Re­searchers es­ti­mate that some 50 per­cent of us age 30 and up have some form of pe­ri­odon­ti­tis, twothirds over age 65. Poor den­tal care can also cause more se­ri­ous is­sues such as heart dis­ease, de­men­tia, res­pi­ra­tory in­fec­tions, di­a­betic com­pli­ca­tions, pre­ma­ture child­birth, os­teo­poro­sis and other prob­lems pre­vented and re­solved by vis­its to the den­tist, ac­cord­ing to health ex­perts with the Mayo Clinic, who also rec­om­mend brush­ing twice daily, floss­ing, watch­ing what foods are eaten and avoid­ing to­bacco. Good den­tal health saves us from dis­ease and pain, but also from drilling into our wal­lets, ac­cord­ing to the Cen­ters for Dis­ease Con­trol and Preven­tion, which es­ti­mates Amer­i­cans spend mil­lions in emer­gency re­pairs for poorly cared for teeth and gums.

Like so many on so­cial me­dia, Vicki B. posted a com­ment about emer­gency care un­der Dr. Rembos: “Fast, ef­fi­cient, emer­gency care. Had an in­fected tooth, pain, face swelled. They got me in the same day I called. ALL STAFF were su­per nice, friendly, & ef­fi­cient. [Doc­tor] pre­scribed an an­tibi­otic, which helped al­most im­me­di­ately. Next morn­ing I felt al­most 100% bet­ter.”

Since very few of us are ex­cited about vis­it­ing the den­tist, Dr. Rembos is par­tic­u­larly ea­ger to pro­vide a wel­com­ing of­fice. Sup­port staff and physi­cians are cho­sen for that in­nate abil­ity to con­nect, to smile and to un­der­stand that each pa­tient re­quires com­fort and min­i­mal stress, in­clud­ing oral sedation and sedation “sleep” den­tistry, al­low­ing pa­tients to wake up 10 min­utes af­ter pro­ce­dures.
