PRESTON — The Caroline County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Heritage Financial Consultants, Thursday, Oct. 6, at its office at 147 Main St., Preston.

Brent Fuchs, certified financial planner, said the office has been open since August 2014, but waited to get established in the community before holding the ribbon-cutting.

It just so happened Fuchs was earlier this year named the Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 Businessman of the Year.

Fuchs, who has 15 years of experience as a financial planner, said the office offers planning services for both individuals and businesses.

Heritage Financial Consultants is part of a larger group of 20 financial planners, Fuchs said, with a main office in Hunt Valley and smaller offices in New Castle and Wilmington, Del.

In addition to himself, the Preston office employs two assistants, Fuchs said.

Fuchs said financial planners should be considered for the same reason professional athletes have coaches and trainers.

“It helps to be held accountable, and to focus on your goals,” Fuchs said. “If you don’t write down your goals and plan for them, how can you reach them?”
