Maitland to speak Nov. 5 at Denton public library

DENTON — In her memoir, “Crossing the Borders of Time,” Leslie Maitland, former award-winning reporter and national correspondent for The New York Times, turned her investigative skills to solving a mystery in her own family’s past.

This true story of her mother’s experience as a Holocaust escapee, and the forbidden romance she left behind, enthralled her. Her book is both a journalist’s vivid depiction of a world at war and a daughter’s pursuit of a haunting question: What had become of the handsome Frenchman whose picture her mother continued to treasure almost 50 years after they parted?

Come for a discussion, reading and book signing with this Bethesda-based author at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Caroline County Public Library’s Central Library in Denton.
