TRAPPE — Eve­lyn Ly­den Price of Trappe, Md., died at Bayleigh Chase Nurs­ing Home in Easton on Mon­day, Oct. 10, 2016. She was 94.

She was born in Smithville, near Federalsburg, on Nov. 30, 1921, the daugh­ter of the late Charley E. Ly­den and Elva Thaw­ley Ly­den. Her hus­band, Dal­las W. Price, pre­ceded her in death in 1984. A son, Mark W. Price, also pre­ceded her in death.

She was a grad­u­ate of Federalsburg High School’s class of 1938. She at­tended Nurs­ing School at Easton Hos­pi­tal, grad­u­at­ing in 1942. She later at­tended Char­ity Hos­pi­tal School of Anes­the­sia in New Or­leans, La. She served in the Army Nurse Corps dur­ing World War II, work­ing at sev­eral dif­fer­ent hos­pi­tals as a nurse anes­thetist. She was hon­or­ably dis­charged from the Army Nurse Corps as a first lieu­tenant in 1947.

She was a com­mu­ni­cant at Trin­ity Cathe­dral Epis­co­pal Church in Easton, was a past mem­ber of the Mary­land State Nurses As­so­ci­a­tion and was a past mem­ber of the Amer­i­can As­so­ci­a­tion of Nurse Anes­thetists. She re­turned home to marry and raise her fam­ily. As a civil­ian, she worked as a nurse anes­thetist and RN in sev­eral dif­fer­ent fa­cil­i­ties. Her whole adult life was de­voted to the care of pa­tients and the in­struc­tion of those who ren­dered that care. She last worked in long-term care and re­tired after work­ing through her 75th birth­day.

She is sur­vived by two sons, Richard L. Price of Har­lin­gen, Texas, and Stephen R. Price of Trappe, Md.; four grand­chil­dren, Jena Spurry of Easton, Md., Br yan Price of Sara­sota, Fla., and Ricky Price and Kelly Price of Har­lin­gen, Texas; five great­grand­chil­dren; sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. A brother, W. Ed­ward Ly­den; and three sis­ters, Ruth L. Cook, Mary L. Wood­ward and Fay L. Het­sko, pre­ceded her in death. A spe­cial thanks to Lisa for the care she gave.

A memo­rial ser­vice will be held at Trin­ity Cathe­dral in Easton, Md., on Thurs­day, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. A com­mit­tal ser­vice with mil­i­tary hon­ors will fol­low at the East­ern Shore Vet­er­ans Ceme­ter y, Hur­lock, Md.
