Christmas in Caroline to be held Dec. 3 and 4
WILLISTON — The 16th annual “Christmas in Caroline” event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Caroline County 4-H Park located on Detour Road, off state Route 16 west, south of Denton.
On this first weekend in December, the 4-H Park is turned into a Christmas wonderland. The main activities building will feature antiques, crafts, collectibles and gift merchandise vendors. A large array of products will be available, including antique items, handcrafted wooden items and furniture, home décor items, jewelry, handmade and specialty gift items, and delicious goodies to be used during Christmas parties.
Also in the main building, a silent auction will be set up each day. A “Children’s Make-It Take-It Workshop” will be held both from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, as well. This crafting event will be open to children ages 5 to 18. A fee of $1 will be charged per each craft made.
Additionally, the kitchen will be open, ser ving hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, homemade chili and soups, along with a variety of desserts and beverages both days.
The Williams Building across the road will feature a countr y store. The store will offer homemade breads, cakes, candy and pies. Gift-boxed cookies, made and donated by 4-H families, also will be on sale. Fresh arrangements, bunches of fresh greens, door swags, grave blankets and a variety of wreaths created by 4-H families and friends of 4-H also may be purchased in the country store.
Also in the Williams Building this year, Mrs. Claus will greet children and parents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sunday. Parents may purchase a photo of their little ones with Santa during that time. Christmas pet photos will be available during that time, as well.
For a small fee, children also can enjoy pony rides during both days, and may participate in a “Christmas Candy Cane Game,” with the opportunity to win Christmasrelated prizes. Parents can play the “Winter Wonderland Wheel Game,” featuring snowmen, Santa novelty items, cakes and other holiday items. Proceeds from the “Winter Wonderland” game will go to the Joanne Wooters Fair Scholarship Fund.
A gift wrapping area will be available to attendees, as well, and proceeds from gift wrapping also will go to the Joanne Wooters Fair Scholarship Fund.
Holiday music will be provided by Jay Davis of A+ DJ’s. The 5k Reindeer Run at Christmas in Caroline will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3. Registration will take place 8 a.m at the 4-H Park and the race will begin at 9 a.m. Interested participants may contact Rebecca Burgess at 410-829-9251 for registration information.
This event is organized by local citizens under the sponsorship of Caroline/Dorchester County Fair, a nonprofit organization. Admission is free, and parking is available.
