Christ­mas in Caro­line to be held Dec. 3 and 4

WILLISTON — The 16th an­nual “Christ­mas in Caro­line” event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Satur­day, Dec. 3, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sun­day, Dec. 4, at the Caro­line County 4-H Park lo­cated on De­tour Road, off state Route 16 west, south of Den­ton.

On this first week­end in De­cem­ber, the 4-H Park is turned into a Christ­mas won­der­land. The main ac­tiv­i­ties build­ing will fea­ture an­tiques, crafts, col­lectibles and gift mer­chan­dise ven­dors. A large ar­ray of prod­ucts will be avail­able, in­clud­ing an­tique items, hand­crafted wooden items and fur­ni­ture, home dé­cor items, jew­elry, hand­made and spe­cialty gift items, and de­li­cious good­ies to be used dur­ing Christ­mas par­ties.

Also in the main build­ing, a silent auc­tion will be set up each day. A “Chil­dren’s Make-It Take-It Work­shop” will be held both from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both Satur­day and Sun­day, as well. This craft­ing event will be open to chil­dren ages 5 to 18. A fee of $1 will be charged per each craft made.

Ad­di­tion­ally, the kitchen will be open, ser ving ham­burg­ers, hot­dogs, sand­wiches, home­made chili and soups, along with a va­ri­ety of desserts and bev­er­ages both days.

The Wil­liams Build­ing across the road will fea­ture a countr y store. The store will of­fer home­made breads, cakes, candy and pies. Gift-boxed cook­ies, made and do­nated by 4-H fam­i­lies, also will be on sale. Fresh ar­range­ments, bunches of fresh greens, door swags, grave blan­kets and a va­ri­ety of wreaths cre­ated by 4-H fam­i­lies and friends of 4-H also may be pur­chased in the coun­try store.

Also in the Wil­liams Build­ing this year, Mrs. Claus will greet chil­dren and par­ents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Satur­day, and from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sun­day. Par­ents may pur­chase a photo of their lit­tle ones with Santa dur­ing that time. Christ­mas pet pho­tos will be avail­able dur­ing that time, as well.

For a small fee, chil­dren also can en­joy pony rides dur­ing both days, and may par­tic­i­pate in a “Christ­mas Candy Cane Game,” with the op­por­tu­nity to win Christ­mas­re­lated prizes. Par­ents can play the “Win­ter Won­der­land Wheel Game,” fea­tur­ing snow­men, Santa nov­elty items, cakes and other hol­i­day items. Pro­ceeds from the “Win­ter Won­der­land” game will go to the Joanne Woot­ers Fair Schol­ar­ship Fund.

A gift wrap­ping area will be avail­able to at­ten­dees, as well, and pro­ceeds from gift wrap­ping also will go to the Joanne Woot­ers Fair Schol­ar­ship Fund.

Hol­i­day mu­sic will be pro­vided by Jay Davis of A+ DJ’s. The 5k Rein­deer Run at Christ­mas in Caro­line will be held on Satur­day, Dec. 3. Reg­is­tra­tion will take place 8 a.m at the 4-H Park and the race will be­gin at 9 a.m. In­ter­ested par­tic­i­pants may con­tact Re­becca Burgess at 410-829-9251 for reg­is­tra­tion in­for­ma­tion.

This event is or­ga­nized by lo­cal cit­i­zens under the spon­sor­ship of Caro­line/Dorch­ester County Fair, a non­profit or­ga­ni­za­tion. Ad­mis­sion is free, and park­ing is avail­able.
