Greens­boro, Federalsburg Christ­mas pa­rades

DEN­TON — The “Christ­mas Around Caro­line” cel­e­bra­tion con­tin­ues with pa­rades in Greens­boro and Federalsburg, along with many other hol­i­day events around the county.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will re­turn to Caro­line in Greens­boro at 6 p.m. Satur­day, Dec. 10, for the town’s an­nual Christ­mas pa­rade and Light­ing of the City.

Federalsburg will host its an­nual Christ­mas pa­rade at 7 p.m. Mon­day, Dec. 12. The pa­rade will go down Main Street and fea­ture Santa Claus, who will visit with res­i­dents at the Federalsburg His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety.

The pa­rade route will go down Sun­set Av­enue and end at the old car­ni­val grounds. En­joy lis­ten­ing to hol­i­day mu­sic and eat­ing home­made cook­ies with hot choco­late.

Spe­cial ap­pear­ances will be made by Frosty the Snow­man and Ru­dolph the Red-Nosed Rein­deer. Ad­mis­sion is free, and a pic­ture with Santa is free. For more in­for­ma­tion, call 410-482-6222 or email ebra­band@greens­boromd.com.

Federalsburg will host its an­nual Christ­mas pa­rade at 7 p.m. Mon­day, Dec. 12. The pa­rade will go down Main Street and fea­ture Santa Claus, who will visit with res­i­dents at the Federalsburg His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety.

The Federalsburg His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will spon­sor Christ­mas in the Mu­seum from 6 to 10 p.m. Mon­day, Dec. 12. This open house will fea­ture dec­o­rated Christ­mas trees and re­fresh­ments of hot cider and cook­ies. Santa will stop by af­ter the Federalsburg Christ­mas Pa­rade to greet chil­dren. Christ­mas wreaths will be made and sold.

On Thurs­days through Sun­days un­til Jan. 7, the Fiber Arts Cen­ter at 7 N. Fourth St., Den­ton, will host a hol­i­day bazaar with hand­crafted fiber art items. Spe­cial hol­i­day or­na­ments will be avail­able at The Foundry from noon to 5 p.m. Wed­nes­day through Satur­day un­til Jan. 7. The Foundry is lo­cated at 401 Mar­ket St., Den­ton, and cus­tomers can shop for hand-painted and crafted or­na­ments by lo­cal artists.

Down­town Den­ton will hold week­ends of shop­ping for crafts, pas­tries, jew­elry, hol­i­day gifts and more dur­ing its Hol­i­day Mar­ket­place at 300 Mar­ket St. The event will con­tinue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Dec. 9, 10, and 15.

Santa’s Magic Work­shop will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 10, 16 and 17 at Marti­nak State Park in Den­ton. Ad­mis­sion is one canned good per per­son for con­tri­bu­tion to the St. Martin’s Barn food pantr y.

The event will fea­ture free hayrides, hol­i­day Christ­mas tree crafts, Santa vis­its, a model train dis­play and free re­fresh­ments. Santa’s Magic Work­shop is a part­ner­ship with Caro­line County Re­cre­ation and Parks, and Marti­nak State Park. The en­chanted il­lu­mi­nated camp­ground will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. each day un­til Dec. 31.

The Ridgely Live Na­tiv­ity Pageant will be held at 7:30 p.m. Satur­day, Dec. 17, in the lot next to Ridgely Town Hall on Cen­tral Av­enue. The free event will fea­ture cos­tumed ac­tors, an­i­mals and live mu­sic de­pict­ing the Christ­mas stor y.

The Lions Clubs in Ridgely and Den­ton will host the third an­nual Santa Chase Sun­day, Dec. 18, at Marti­nak State Park in Den­ton. Regis­tra­tion will open at 3:30 p.m, and the race will start at 4:45 p.m. Pre-regis­tra­tion is $15 per run­ner by Dec. 5 or $50 for a group of four.

The run will be held in the dark with can­dle lu­mi­nar­ies mark­ing the trail. The char­ity run also will in­clude hol­i­day cos­tume prizes and hol­i­day glow bands. For more in­for­ma­tion, call 410-479-8120 or visit car­o­linerecre­ation.org.
