Caroline stu­dents com­pete in Lego League

SAL­IS­BURY — Colonel Richardson and Lock­er­man mid­dle schools each sent two teams of stu­dents to com­pete in the First Lego League Re­gional Qual­i­fier, held Satur­day, Dec. 10, at Sal­is­bury Mid­dle School.

Rep­re­sent­ing Colonel Richardson Mid­dle School were the Cre­ative Colonels and The Crazy Cougars; rep­re­sent­ing Lock­er­man Mid­dle were The Lego Leg­ends and The Le’Guardians.

Eigh­teen teams from across the re­gion com­peted in cat­e­gories of robot build­ing and pro­gram­ming, re­search and pre­sen­ta­tion, and team­work, or Core Val­ues.

Lego Leg­ends, from Lock­er­man, won first place over­all and brought home the Cham­pi­ons Award tro­phy. This is a firstyear team, with two first-year coaches. The Le’Guardians took third place at the Robot Games. The Lock­er­man teams are coached by Trinia Honer and Josh Dunn.

The Cre­ative Colonels earned a sec­ond place award in the Re­search cat­e­gory, and the Crazy Cougars earned a first place tro­phy in Core Val­ues. The Crazy Cougars also earned the op­por­tu­nity to travel to Bal­ti­more on Feb. 25 for the state com­pe­ti­tion. The Colonel teams are coached by Rob Honer and Matthew Luongo.

The Le’Guardians: Josh McC­ly­ment, Joey Hin­son, Ni­cholas An­der­son, Adam Harper, Ma­son Voorhees, Liam Welch, Zephan Gourley, Sean Kim­ble and Dan Bild­stein.
