GREENSBORO — Caroline Career and Technology students in the construction and art classes received congratulations and a thank you from Greensboro officials for building the town’s Christmas decorations.

The town featured the decorations during its Christmas parade and Lighting of the City along E. Sunset Avenue and throughout the holiday season.

Greensboro Mayor Joseph Noon, Vice Mayor Michael Mackey and Commissioner Joey Williamson joined the students in their classroom at North Caroline High School on Dec. 16.

“I want to thank all of you for the outstanding Christmas decorations you made

for our town,” Noon said. “If it was not for you all, I don’t think we would have had a lighting of the city this year.

“People love the decorations,” he said. “People have been sharing them on Facebook. Everywhere I go, people stop me to tell me how great your decorations look. I had one person ask me if you could build him a shed because he was so impressed with your skills. Truly, from the bottom of my heart I just want to say thank you.”

Noon said the idea to build the decorations came from CCTC teachers Dennis Hall and Kurt Plinke, CCPS CTE Business Liaison Joshua Zimmerman, North Caroline High Assistant Principal Nichole Fisher, Christine Robinson, Williamson and Mackey.

“I appreciate what you did for the town,” Mackey said. “When I looked around before the parade, it was a beautiful job you did. They are very professional. They are great.

“The whole town loved it,” he said. “Everyone in the parade said great things about it. You did a great job and we thank you very much.”

Hall said the students are very talented at their craft. He also thanked Plinke for assisting with the project.

“I’m really proud of all the students for the excellent work they did,” Hall said. “It is great for them to see something they made in the community. They did an outstanding job, and we look forward to exploring more projects in the future.”
