Girl Scouts from Caroline County, Chestertown and Middletown, Del., jumped into Williston Lake at Camp Todd four dif- ferent times during the fundraiser. Caroline troops participating included troop 1121, 742, 154 and 840.the Girl Adults Scouts. also took the jump with The money raised at the event will go toward improvements at Camp Todd in preparation for this summer’s camp programs. “It is really exciting to see a good turnout in the event’s first year,” said Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council Chairman Sherye Nickerson. “The Friends of Camp Todd Committee is just trying to bring awareness that the camp is

open, not just for Girl Scouts, but for all groups and organizations.

“The things we do to beautify the camp is all because of the support from the community. All the proceeds from the event will all go back to the camp so that we can check off some more of our wish list items. We appreciate all the support from the community that helps us keep the camp going for the community,” Nickerson said.

After participants took a dip in Williston Lake, the troops hung out in the warm Todd Memorial Hall program center, dancing to DJ-provided music, completing crafts or enjoying the hot beverages and food for sale.

“It is good that everyone is supporting Camp Todd, not just Caroline County, but also troops from other parts of the Eastern Shore and Delaware,” Nickerson said. “We are all part of the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay.

“I guess we got some crazy girls who want to jump into the water,” she said. “But we appreciate their support of the camp. They have been very enthusiastic about par- ticipating. It is a fun day where the girls can come together with one another. It is good to see them participating and bonding, and just doing the traditional camp experience.

“Seeing the smiles, and even hearing the shrieks when they hit the cold water, is what today is all about,” she said. “Girls know how to have fun. It is great to see a community effort coming together for this event and that Scouting is still very strong.”

There will be a Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay paint night fundraiser for Camp Todd on April 29. Information about the event will be released soon.
