EASTON — The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of the Eastern Shore will host the Country Cares Concert for a Cure fundraiser Thursday, Oct 5, at the Avalon Theatre in Easton.
The concert features Eric Karge, Justin Ryan and Bird Dog and The Road Kings. Seats in the first three rows of the center floor section are the VIP section, and are on sale for $75. All other seats, floor and balcony sections, are general admission and $25. The VIP party begins at 6:15 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m. The concert starts at 7 p.m.
The concert benefits LLS of the Eastern Shore, which hosts the annual 10week Man and Woman of the Year campaign.
The fifth annual Man and Woman of the Year campaign raised more than $455,000 for blood cancer research. Melissa Coligan of Team Missy’s Mojo was named Woman of the Year. She and her team raised more than $121,000. The title of Man of the Year was awarded to John Bunce of Team Crushin’ Orange, who with his team raised more than $123,000. This was the third win for Team Crushin’ Orange, after 2016 Woman of the Year Emily Murray and 2015 Man of the Year Tom Bunce.
In Maryland, the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society has given out more than $706,000 in patient co-pay assistance and travel expenses just this year. Nearly 40 percent of all cancer treatments were first developed through blood cancer research.
