Planner returns as Federalsburg’s mayor
FEDERALSBURG — Voters reelected Federalsburg Mayor Chuck Planner during the town’s election Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Planner ran unopposed in the race, and received 117 votes. In the four-person council race, Councilmembers David Morean and Scott Phillips were re-elected. Morean garnered the most votes with 79, and Phillips received the next most with 70. Challengers Renee Greene and Roberta Butler received 44 and 31 votes, respectively.
Councilmembers serve four-year terms.
Councilmembers serve four-year terms, and all run at-large.
Morean was elected to his first term on the council in 2013. It was his first time running for an elected office, though he had prior experience holding offices in both the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Department and Federalsburg Lions Club.
Phillips was appointed in 2015 to fill in the seat vacated when Planner, at that time a council member, was elected mayor.
