Plan­ner re­turns as Fed­er­als­burg’s mayor

FED­ER­ALS­BURG — Vot­ers re­elected Fed­er­als­burg Mayor Chuck Plan­ner dur­ing the town’s elec­tion Tues­day, Sept. 26.

Plan­ner ran un­op­posed in the race, and re­ceived 117 votes. In the four-per­son coun­cil race, Coun­cilmem­bers David Morean and Scott Phillips were re-elected. Morean gar­nered the most votes with 79, and Phillips re­ceived the next most with 70. Chal­lengers Renee Greene and Roberta But­ler re­ceived 44 and 31 votes, re­spec­tively.

Coun­cilmem­bers serve four-year terms.

Morean was elected to his first term on the coun­cil in 2013. It was his first time run­ning for an elected of­fice, though he had prior ex­pe­ri­ence hold­ing of­fices in both the Fed­er­als­burg Vol­un­teer Fire De­part­ment and Fed­er­als­burg Lions Club.

Phillips was ap­pointed in 2015 to fill in the seat va­cated when Plan­ner, at that time a coun­cil mem­ber, was elected mayor.
