Man arrested after allegedly stabbing nephew
PRESTON — Caroline County Sheriff’s County deputies arrested a Preston man after he allegedly stabbed his nephew late Sunday night.
According to the sheriff’s office, Gary Lee Ireland, 54, of 21269 Dover Bridge Road, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first- and seconddegree assault, reckless endangerment and carrying a concealed dangerous weapon.
Police said Gary Ireland and his nephew, Zachery Ryan Ireland, 18, had an argument at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at 21269 Dover Bridge Road. Police said Gary Ireland stabbed Zachery Ireland multiple times.
Police said Zachery Ireland was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in critical condition. Police said Zachery Ireland’s condition was upgraded Monday morning to serious but stable.
Gary Ireland was arrested without incident at the scene Sunday night, according to police.
He is being held on no bond at the Caroline County Detention Center, police said.
