Man receives 40-year sentence for rape conviction
DENTON — Russell Linwood Hall Jr., 46, of Greensboro, was sentenced on Oct. 27 to 40 years in prison by Caroline County Circuit Court Judge Jonathan Newell after being convicted on two counts of second-degree rape, two-counts of second-degree assault and third-degree sex offense.
According to the Caroline County State’s Attorney’s Office, Hall was convicted after a two-day jury trial on Aug. 25 on charges from two incidents occurring between June and October 2015.
The sentence was the maximum sentence allowable and the recommendation of the State’s Attorney’s Office.
“The prosecution recommended the maximum penalty on both counts of rape due to the level of harm and the special circumstances of the victim in this matter,” said Caroline County State’s Attorney Joe Riley.
“The State’s Attorney’s Office for Caroline County wishes to thank the Adult Protective Services division of the Department of Social Services for their work on the case.”
