Denton man charged with possession of child pornography
DENTON — A Denton man was arrested by Caroline County Sheriff’s Office detectives Monday, Oct. 30, and charged with possession of child pornography as part of an investigation with the FBI, Maryland State Police and the Caroline State’s Attorney’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, Christopher John Baier, 51, of 11145 Branch Court, was charged with possession of child pornography, possession of obscene matter with intent to distribute, promote/distribute child pornography. Baier was being held at the Caroline County Detention Center without bond, but was released after a bail review hearing in district court Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The sheriff’s office said FBI investigators notified the sheriff’s office in August about a resident allegedly in possession of child pornography. Police said a fourth-month investigation showed Baier was allegedly receiving and sending images and videos of child pornography to various individuals on the internet. Police said he allegedly was viewing, sending and receiving the files through a cloud storage service company.
According to the sheriff’s office, search warrants were served on several communications companies where a large amount of child pornography was discovered in numerous accounts owned and maintained by Baier.
Police said on Oct. 30, detectives, along with agents from the FBI, Maryland State Police and the Caroline State’s Attorney’s Office, executed a search and seizure warrant at Baier’s home in Denton. Police said numerous electronic devices were located, which stored a large amount of child pornography.
