Wanda Lee Payne Ney

MIL­FORD, DEL. — Wanda Lee Payne Ney, 58, of Mil­ford, DE, passed away peace­fully on Fri­day, Nov. 10, 2017 at the Delaware Hos­pice Cen­ter, Mil­ford.

Wanda was born in Eas­ton, MD, the daugh­ter of Ge­orge Payne and Delilah (Hignutt) Henry. She be­gan her ca­reer as a stage man­ager in 1999 at Dover Downs. She also worked through­out the DelMarVa Penin­sula for Mid South Au­dio for many years. She had the priv­i­lege of work­ing many ma­jor con­certs for such mu­si­cians as Paul McCart­ney, ZZ Top, and Glenn Miller, to name a few. She was very ac­tive with the June Jam and worked ev­ery show at the Delaware State Fair for the last 10 years. She also worked the Dew Tour when it was in Ocean City, MD.

She was a mem­ber of the Fel­ton Fire Com­pany. Wanda en­joyed spend­ing time with her friends and fam­ily, loved horse­back rid­ing, boat­ing, and was a die-hard Wash­ing­ton Red­skins fan.

She is sur­vived by her three chil­dren: Ricky Co­hee, Devin Benn, Danielle Shan­ley; her grand­chil­dren: Ja­cob Co­hee, Joshua Co­hee, Ai­den Shan­ley; her par­ents: Ge­orge Payne and Delilah (Hignutt) Henry; one sis­ter, Linda Dunn; and two broth­ers: Hol­lon Payne and Steven Henry.

A Cel­e­bra­tion of Wanda’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sun­day, Nov. 19, at the Lofland Fu­neral Home, 102 Lake­view Ave., Mil­ford, DE, where friends may call from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
