Wanda Lee Payne Ney
MILFORD, DEL. — Wanda Lee Payne Ney, 58, of Milford, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.
Wanda was born in Easton, MD, the daughter of George Payne and Delilah (Hignutt) Henry. She began her career as a stage manager in 1999 at Dover Downs. She also worked throughout the DelMarVa Peninsula for Mid South Audio for many years. She had the privilege of working many major concerts for such musicians as Paul McCartney, ZZ Top, and Glenn Miller, to name a few. She was very active with the June Jam and worked every show at the Delaware State Fair for the last 10 years. She also worked the Dew Tour when it was in Ocean City, MD.
She was a member of the Felton Fire Company. Wanda enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, loved horseback riding, boating, and was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan.
She is survived by her three children: Ricky Cohee, Devin Benn, Danielle Shanley; her grandchildren: Jacob Cohee, Joshua Cohee, Aiden Shanley; her parents: George Payne and Delilah (Hignutt) Henry; one sister, Linda Dunn; and two brothers: Hollon Payne and Steven Henry.
A Celebration of Wanda’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, DE, where friends may call from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
