Zoom adventures ahead for HLO KidCo

HLO KidCo has announced “ZoomCo” for summer fun with theater. With games, movement and music, experienced KidCo teachers will offer four weeks of classes in the safe, online format from July 21 to Aug. 12.

Teachers have been spending their time this summer catching up on the latest classroom techniques for learning in place. With over 30 hours of informative and challenging classes from Broadway and

Seattle professionals, they have learned techniques in how to engage students and how to use the Zoom platform to continue to build the theater community. They have also experienced examples of online teaching modeled by the best educators/ professionals in musical theater.

There will be two classes three days a week. The 5 to 7 year olds will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 8 to 10 year olds from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. each day. The program is designed for students to take one class or even three classes with different focuses.

Tuesday is “Musical Theatre through Puppetry” with Katri Pitts focusing on character development and musical theater activities with the student’s own homemade puppet. On Wednesdays, Amy Chalfant will facilitate “Create a Zoom Musical” that will incorporate the various elements of theater in an script written by the class. Thursday class is “Broadway from Home” with Fiona Ryder that will use Disney and classic musical theater to create a stage in your own home. Ryder will also teach a special “Tiny Twinkler Class” for the preschool group, scheduled for Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
