Pack the Duct Tape

Trail Rider - - SADDLEBAG SAVVY -

Just as you regularly check your horse’s home environment for potential hazards, also check his accommodations on the road. Walk the temporary stall or pen, and check for any sharp edges, or protruding nails or screws.

Use duct tape to smooth over rough edges before you allow your horse to enter his temporary home. A $5 roll of tape may save you $300 if your horse cuts himself and requires stitches, or catches an eye.

Let the overnight-stabling or campground manager know about any hazards, and make sure it’s okay to use duct tape.
