Retired Racehorses Showcased
The Retired Racehorse Project’s $100,000 Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium Presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America will be held October 27-30, 2016, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The event features 500 Thoroughbred ex-racehorses performing in 10 equestrian disciplines, including Competitive Trails; each horse has received less than a year’s training in a second career. In Competitive Trails, horses will compete in an approximately six-mile ride on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park with at least six judged obstacles.
Top professional and amateur trainers from throughout North America compete for $100,000 in prize money and crowd support to be crowned “America’s Most Wanted Thoroughbred.”
About half of the horses will be offered for sale; each horse will undergo an arrival exam by a veterinarian from Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. Hagyard vets will also be available to conduct prepurchase exams. All sale horses will be cataloged online in advance, and buyers may test-ride horses at the sellers’ discretion.
