Match Your Gait

Trail Rider - - HOT ON THE TRAIL -

Traditional trail-riding protocol suggests that if you meet another rider on the trail or are riding with less experienced riders, you should match the gait of the slowest horse. If you’re loping across a meadow and see other horses approaching at a walk, slow your horse to a walk. Matching your gait will help all present stay safe and in control.

When you see others approaching you as you ride, slow down to match the gait of the slowest rider.
