Heart of Dixie Trail Ride Troy, Ala.

News Year’s Ride, De­cem­ber 30, 2016-Jan­uary 1, 2017 The trails: Heart of Dixie Trail Ride has more than 1,000 acres of land and about 35 miles of in­ter­min­gled trails. The trails are shaded and sandy, per­fect for bare­foot horses. On the prop­erty are the Conecuh River, streams, duck ponds, and rolling hills. Ride de­scrip­tion: This New Year’s Ride in­cludes three guided rides, seven home cooked meals, a live band, bingo, and a church ser­vice. Your horse must have a cur­rent neg­a­tive Cog­gins test. In­sider tip: The Johnny Col­lier Band will play Fri­day and Satur­day night. Cost: $125 per per­son age 15 and up; $75 for ages 7 to 14; free for chil­dren 6 years old and younger. Texas Eques­trian Trail Rid­ers As­so­ci­a­tion, Par­rie Haynes Eques­trian Cen­ter, Killen, Texas

Christ­mas Ride and Party, De­cem­ber 2-4, 2016 The trails: Par­rie Haynes Eques­trian Cen­ter is sit­u­ated along the Lam­pasas River on al­most 2,000 acres of Hill Coun­try. Trails wind through rolling na­tive prairies, pas­tures, cedar and oak trees, and crys­tal-clear streams. Ride de­scrip­tion: There’s a Fri­day night meal, as well as break­fast Satur­day and Sun­day morn­ing. Satur­day night’s meal is catered, so con­tact host Debby Al­ley to reg­is­ter, (512) 517-9476. New Year’s Ride and Party, De­cem­ber 30, 2016-Jan­uary 1, 2017 The trails: The ranch is lo­cated on the edge of 100,000 acres of un­in­hab­ited moun­tain land. Trails of­fer scenic views, creeks, wa­ter­falls, and wildlife. Ride de­scrip­tion: The hol­i­day ride pack­age in­cludes the New Year's Eve party, party fa­vors, three nights of camp­ing, one stall per rider, and a steak din­ner.
