David Michael Payne
David Payne was born on January 26, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to his parents, Walter and Mary Jo Payne. He had recently been diagnosed with throat cancer, been through treatment and had a clean bill of health. David passed away September 2, 2017, from complications of a fall. David was an accomplished singer at an early age as a member of the Tulsa Boys Choir. He graduated in 1970 from Nathan Hale High School and continued his love for music with the Nathan Hale Concert Choir. At Hale, he was involved in Drama, Basketball, Baseball, Debate Team, Math Team and Student Council. He loved Nathan Hale and the long lasting relationships with his fellow Rangers. David was offered two scholarships after high school, a baseball scholarship to ORU and a Drama scholarship to NEO. He elected the NEO Drama scholarship where he played many leading roles. His vision and love for the arts led him into the movie and film industry. As a talent manager, David opened the industry to something they had never seen before. He opened the doors for all talent who had the desire to perform in the arts. Many of his most famous successes that you might recognize are Roma Chugani, Lou Diamond Phillips, Eric Dane, Jeremy and Jason London, Tracy Letts and all the extra casting for the Dallas series.
David is survived by his mother, Mary Jo Payne Luney and her husband Dale Luney; sister, Diana Jaramillo and her husband Steve; children, Joshua Payne and his wife Nicole, Rebekah Flanagan and her husband Sean, Aaron Payne and his wife Shanda; grandchildren, Hallie and Spencer Payne, Kennedy Stevens, Seamus Flanagan, Evelyn and Alexander Payne. Niece, Hayley Marlar, her husband Beck and children Judah and Eva, Nephew, Chris Adams his companion Rachael Dorsey and daughter Mckenna, Joseph Adams with wife Rachel along with their children Trevor and Riley. David is buried in Okmulgee Cemetery next to his father. In honor of David, we are asking donations be made to Preston Schools P O Box 40 Preston, Oklahoma 74456 to further their arts and athletic programs.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Schaudt's Okmulgee Funeral Service and Cremation Care Center.
