Dr. Charles (Charlie)
Bacon, 84, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away
August 22, 2018. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at
2:00 p.m. at the University Heights Baptist Church, Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater is in charge of arrangements.
Charlie was born in Shreveport, LA, on December 20, 1933 to Frank Bacon and Helen Millhoff Bacon. He grew up and graduated high school in Bartlesville, OK.
In 1951 Charlie entered Oklahoma A&M College (later Oklahoma State University) to study Animal Science. He was also a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. After graduating with a BS degree in Animal Science in 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne Duncan. Charlie served in the U.S. Army, then returned to OSU and received both his BS and MS 1961. He then attended Michigan State University where he received his PhD in 1964.
In 1966 Charlie returned to OSU as an Assistant Professor in electrical engineering. He became a Professor in 1972. He later served as Interim Associate Dean of the College of Engineering from 1987 to 1988. Charlie retired from the University in 1994.
He was a longtime member of the University Heights Baptist Church, and was also an avid OSU cowboy fan. He was a member of a flying club and loved flying all over the country with Jeanne.
Members of his family include his wife, Jeanne; son, Stephen Bacon; daughter, Jan Bacon-Fleming and her husband, William Fleming; granddaughters, Tiffany, Callie (Bryce), Chelsea (Owen) and Kristen; and great grandchildren, Jude, Maci, Kyndall, Avery and Madeline. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lois and Jenny.
