Man shot in the back af­ter fight at south tulsa apart­ment

A man was shot in the back dur­ing an al­ter­ca­tion with his room­mate out­side a south Tulsa apart­ment com­plex early Satur­day, po­lice said.

Of­fi­cers were called to an apart­ment com­plex in the 7900 block of East 60th Place about 12:55 a.m. in re­sponse to re­ports of a man in his 20s who had been shot, Cpl. Shawn McGeough said in a news re­lease.

The wounded man's sis­ter re­port­edly drove him to Saint Fran­cis Hos­pi­tal be­fore po­lice ar­rived, McGeough said.

State­ments pro­vided to po­lice in­di­cated that the man was in a fist fight with his room­mate.

Af­ter the fight ended, some­one fired a shot that struck the man in the lower back, ac­cord­ing to McGeough.

Dur­ing an in­ter­view at the hos­pi­tal, the shoot­ing vic­tim told de­tec­tives he no­ticed “a male he rec­og­nized in the park­ing lot and that is who shot him,” po­lice stated.

The vic­tim, whose name was not re­leased, is ex­pected to sur­vive, po­lice said.
