Didn't remember in November
There seemed to be widespread enthusiasm and support for Oklahoma teachers last spring when the teacher strike made national news. So, what happened to that support when we so blatantly disregarded teachers in our recent elections?
My guess is tribalism. The news reported a full 64 percent of Republicans voted straight- party ticket without consideration for our teachers. The teachers' overall support leaned to Democrats Drew Edmondson for governor; Tim Gilpin for the 1st District U.S. Congress, and John Cox for state superintendent.
All three were strongly in the teachers' corner and were decisively defeated.
