The running game dominated the Titans’ offensive efforts last season, but early offseason indications from coach Mike Mu
larkey suggest a heavier emphasis on using QB Marcus
Mariota in the passing game. With RB DeMarco Murray sidelined by a hamstring injury for the first two preseason games, the Titans gave backup RB Der
rick Henry extra work, and he impressed in finding holes as a rusher and catching passes as a receiver. Murray started the third preseason game against the Chicago Bears and had four carries on the team’s first six plays.
Henry broke a shutout with a 3-yard TD catch to begin the fourth quarter, capping an 11-play, 90-yard, 51⁄ 2- minute drive.
“It was a good way to finish,” Mariota said. “But that being said, we’ve got a lot of work to do, and we’ll find ways to improve.”
