Consensus line: Pick ’em Prediction: The Cardinals will go as far as QB Carson Palmer and their offensive line take them, and opening against one of the league’s thinnest pass-rush units is fortuitous for new LT D.J. breaking in new three starting offensive linemen likely will be accompanied by growing pains for the Lions. This one will be close until the end, with both teams working through a lot of turnover. But the Cardinals have too many weapons — on both sides of the ball — to directly attack some of the Lions’ biggest question marks.

uSTART: Cardinals QB Carson Palmer. Despite a down year, Palmer managed 4,233 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes. This year, his receivers are healthier, and he has a top notch Week 1 matchup against a Lions defense that gave up the second-most touchdown passes last season.

uSIT Arizona allowed 21 passing touchdowns and 210 passing yards per game in 2016, making Stafford’s chances of a big game slim.
