Consensus line: Titans by 1 Prediction: Both teams are looking for strong starts to the 2017 season after experiencing tremendous improvements last season. In Week 1, the Raiders and Titans will lean heavily on their veteran running backs and young, trusty quarterbacks to make plays. It could be a very conservative affair, with mini-
mal attempts at deep shots down the field, but that’s not to say there won’t be any big plays. The Raiders will challenge Tennessee’s offensive line, especially on the edge, looking to rattle QB Marcus Mariota. If they can force a turnover or two, that could prove to be the difference. The Titans will fall just short, possibly on a fourth-quarter mishap.
uSTART: Titans QB Marcus Mariota. Mariota finished last season with 26 touchdown strikes against nine interceptions. Look for him to continue to improve against a Raiders defense that allowed two or more passing touchdowns nine times in 2016.
uSIT: After coming out of retirement, Lynch faces a Titans team that ranked No. 2 in the NFL against the run a year ago at 88.3 yards per game.
