EAGLES, 27-23

USA TODAY Sports Weekly - - NL WEST - Redskins RB Rob Kelley.

Consensus line: Eagles by 1 Who will win and why: The Eagles offense ended the preseason on a high, with all of its weapons clicking in the first unit’s final appearance. In particular, the success of bruising LeGarrette Blount and elusive Wendell Smallwood running behind a solid line doesn’t bode well for the Redskins, whose defensive

line took a major hit with NT Phil Taylor’s season-ending quadriceps tear. Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has shown he can carry a team, and he has the weapons to do it. But if Eagles QB Carson Wentz truly has improved and the line can keep Ryan Kerrigan and Junior Galette off his back, he should be able to score points.

uSTART: Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery. Past injuries aside, Jeffery is one of the NFL’s most elite, and his skill set should be on full display against a Washington defense that ranked 25th against the pass last season.

uSIT: Kelley came out of nowhere to post a solid rookie season. While he will get the first crack to make an impact, rookie RB Samaje Perine could take some carries and the Eagles ranked in the top half of the league against the run last season.
