Consensus line: Cowboys by 4 Who will win and why: A year ago, the Giants swept Dallas on the strength of their defense. This year, that defense might be better, led by DT Damon Harrison, a stout run defender, and CB Janoris Jenkins, whose battles with Dallas WR Dez Bryant should be intense. The Cowboys enter the season confident and
clicking on offense — with or without RB Ezekiel Elliott — but points are hard to come by against the Giants. The game might well turn on the other matchup — the Giants’ underachieving offense vs. the Cowboys’ uninspiring defense. In that one, Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. is the X factor, assuming he’s healthy.
uSTART: Giants QB Eli Manning. He threw for 4,027 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2016. Those numbers could rise with the addition of WR Brandon Marshall and the return of Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard. He has thrown 10 TD passes in his last six meetings vs. the Cowboys.
uSIT: He hasn’t fared well against the Giants the last two years. Last year, he had two receptions for 18 yards in two games. You must go back to 2014 to find his last touchdown against them.
