The Philadelphia Eagles are sitting atop the NFC East with a cozy three-game lead through the midway point of the 2017 NFL season.
The better news for Eagles fans is the fact that since 1990, 89.5% of teams (77 of 86) that started the season 6-1 or better have made the playoffs. Twenty-seven of those 77 advanced to the Super Bowl. Fourteen of those teams won it.
And the last time Philadelphia started a season 7-1, in 2004, it made it to the Super Bowl.
