Adrian Peterson makes case in D.C,
Storyline of the week
All Day for Peterson: It was apparent from Adrian Peterson’s first carry in Week 3 of the preseason against the Broncos that he is easily the best running back on the roster and should carry the offense on early downs. He also emerged as the passing game led by QB Alex Smith looked to have little timing or consistency. It will be interesting to see how quickly Peterson can pick up different concepts and schemes. He averaged 3.4 yards per carry last season for Arizona and New Orleans, his worst season average in which he has played 10 or more games.
Supplemental draft pick and DB Adonis Alexander put on a show against the Broncos in what was his NFL debut. He missed most of camp with an injury, so the sudden productivity is a welcome sight for a defense already deep in the secondary. Strong play from Alexander puts the good kind of pressure on endof-roster types such as DBs Joshua Holsey and Danny Johnson.
