Storyline of the week
Secondary thoughts: Chiefs GM Brett Veach might regret trading Pro Bowl CB Marcus Peters. The Chiefs’ rebuilt secondary has looked suspect through three preseason games. The primary culprits have been Kansas City’s free agent acquisitions, CBs David Amerson and Orlando Scandrick. Amerson gave up the longest play against the Bears, a 56-yard reception by rookie WR Javon Wims. Scandrick was beat on a double-move by WR Kevin White for a touchdown. Both plays could have been avoided with better technique.
Undrafted QB Chase Litton jumped ahead of QB Matt McGloin on the Chiefs depth chart against the Bears, taking snaps with the third-team offense. Litton connected with secondyear WR Marcus Kemp for a 55-yard touchdown pass. Litton has shown good arm strength and smart situational play. Monitor Litton’s performance in the final preseason game against the Packers as he makes a final push for a roster spot.
