Storyline of the week
Quinn back to form: The pass rush outside of DE Cameron Wake was non-existent at times last season. Miami had 30 sacks, which ranked 26th in the league, and 101⁄2 of those came from Wake. That’s why the team acquired DE Robert Quinn in March. Since the Rams moved to a 3-4 defense a few seasons ago, Quinn was moved to the outside edge linebacker, and the results were mixed. He had 81⁄2 sacks in 2017, but he wasn’t playing his natural position. In Miami, Quinn has moved back to defensive end and has been wreaking havoc in practices and in preseason games. Quinn has three sacks in three preseason games. The Dolphins are hoping a change of scenery will help Quinn rediscover his Pro Bowl form.
Jason Sanders and Greg Joseph are competing to be the full-time kicker. Sanders appears to have the advantage, converting 6 of 7 field goal attempts during the preseason, while Joseph has made just two field goals.
