Storyline of the week
The Turk is coming: The Steelers are staring down their final preseason game Aug. 30 against the Panthers and cut downs. Pittsburgh played its starters last week and this week it is going to be all about guys on the roster bubble, such as RB Stevan Ridley, LB Tyler Matakevich and CB Brian Allen. WR Marcus Tucker has been injured, so this week’s addition of WR Switzer in a trade with the Raiders could be in advance of his release. Switzer can provide depth as an inside receiver as well as provide a spark in the return game. A young player has yet to step up as a returner.
In 2002, the Steelers signed undrafted LB James Harrison and gave him No. 92. This season another undrafted guy wearing No. 92 is opening eyes. LB Olasunkanmi Adeniyi brings back fond memories of Harrison with his squatty build and power off the edge. He has one more chance to impress the coaches enough to steal a spot on the final 53-man roster.
