QB Patrick Mahomes might have brought the Chiefs to a new level on offense, and he wants more.

When the Buffalo Bills — aka the suicide pool killers — stunned the Minnesota Vikings as 161⁄2-point underdogs last week, they became the first team in the NFL since 1995 to win a game as an underdog of 16 or more points. The win snapped a 54-game losing skein for such underdogs.

Our database reports there have been 21 NFL teams that have managed to win a game as an underdog of 14 or more points. Those same teams have gone 4-17 SU and 4-15-2 ATS (against the spread) the following game.

The Green Bay Packers figure to be beneficiaries this week of Buffalo’s fortuitous win.

Stat of the week

The Dallas Cowboys are 1-15 ATS as home favorites when coming off a SU and ATS loss (as they are after a 24-13 loss to the Seahawks).
