Buccaneers’ keys to victory: The Buccaneers will be starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick over Jameis Winston after a series of sloppy, turnover-plagued performances. If Fitzpatrick takes better care of the ball than Winston has, Tampa Bay has a shot at an upset. WR Mike Evans only has a 48% career catch rate facing the Panthers. Defensively, the Bucs are led by LB Lavonte David but are short LB Kwon Alexander, who tore his ACL in Week 7. They will need to keep an eye out for designed runs by QB Cam Newton and limit the elusive Christian McCaffrey’s yards after contact.

Panthers’ keys to victory: Second-year RT Taylor Moton has been solid in pass protection since the devastating training camp injury to OT Daryl Williams. He will need to stop DE Jason-Pierre Paul, who leads the Bucs in sacks with eight. C Ryan Kalil and the guards must do the same against star DT Gerald McCoy. QB Cam Newton should look more often for rookie WR DJ Moore, who had a breakout game running and catching the ball last week vs. Baltimore.

Matchup to watch: Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson vs. Panthers CB Donte Jackson. You won’t find a one-on-one matchup with more combined speed. Jackson long has been one of the NFL’s best deep-ball catchers and still has jets at 31. Jackson, a rookie, ran the fastest 40-yard time at this year’s combine.

Who wins? Carolina has won eight of the teams’ last 10 meetings and also has a nine-game home winning streak overall.
