NOTRE DAME WOMEN CLINCH ACC BASKETBALL TITLE

- From staff and wire reports

For the most part, Notre Dame’s women’s team made winning the Atlantic Coast Conference look easy. The regular-season conference championship came down to Sunday’s game between No. 4 Notre Dame and No. 11 Florida State. And the Fighting Irish won 79-61. Notre Dame has done this four seasons in a row and will be the No. 1 seed heading into this week’s conference tournament, which will be held in Myrtle Beach, S.C., starting Wednesday. “I had a lot of joy out there today,” coach Muffet McGraw said. “I really, really wanted to celebrate that one.” Had the Irish (27-3, 15-1) lost, it would have been the program’s first home loss to an ACC team in 30 years.
