Ok­la­homa star quar­ter­back and Heis­man Tro­phy fi­nal­ist Baker

May­field apol­o­gized Tues­day af­ter his ar­rest Satur­day in Arkansas. In his state­ment, posted on Twit­ter — is­sued “with much love and re­gret” — May­field took full re­spon­si­bil­ity for his ac­tions and apol­o­gized to ev­ery­one af­fected. “I will earn your re­spect back and prove that I can han­dle my­self in ev­ery sit­u­a­tion, on and off the field.” Ac­cord­ing to the Wash­ing­ton County Sher­iff ’s Of­fice, May­field was charged with pub­lic in­tox­i­ca­tion, dis­or­derly con­duct, flee­ing and re­sist­ing ar­rest.
