French voters elected pragmatic centrist Emmanuel Macron (66%) as president over right-wing challenger Marine Le Pen (34%).

Amazing how the news media here and abroad continue to label Le Pen as “far right” when she is a moderate on every issue except, God forbid, open borders. And Macron is labeled as a “reasonable” centrist when he is a left-of-center neophyte with zero answers. Such a joke! George Dixon

This must break President Trump’s heart. He envies strongarmed dictators who don’t have to deal with pesky judges, Congress (or Parliament) and the media. Sydney Carton

Good! Congratulations to the people of France. Now they won’t have to spend millions of dollars on investigations and have an impeachment proceeding to remove a Russian spy as their leader. To the people of France, congratulations and well done! Bryant Smith

Another nation left with two poor choices. There doesn’t seem to be any centrist among the political left or right anywhere.

Either way, the only people not affected are politicians. Ray Hutchison I’m glad about the voting turnout in France. I congratulate Macron as he defeated a likely fascist. France is better than that. And I applaud the French for using logic and reason. David Garcia

A very sad day for France. A toady who will rubber-stamp the diminishing of French culture. Minarets will spring up in Paris, and there will be people spewing hate from their mosques. Not happening in America, we got the right president. This country has the Second Amendment and, by God, we can organize to defend our culture and way of life. No hate will be propagated here. Dean Johnson

Is this the new trend? Elect people who have never held public office before? Happened just recently in the U.S. Wayne Wastier Our followers shared their thoughts on the French election results. Well, at least France learned from our mistake. @wilclouthier This election will seal the fate of the euro and the European Union. @PironeRobert Lots of happy people out there, wait until the chaos starts in France. @Fieldk5Jim Yes! Hate has been sideswiped in France. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a trend worldwide. @matccm I can’t believe it. Hugely disappointed. The French are finished. Thank God we have President Trump. @kathleendawe For more, follow @USATOpinion or #tellusatoday.
