TRUMP MEETS WITH INDIA’S PRIME MINISTER MODI

Amid disagreements over trade, immigration, and climate change policies, President Trump met Monday with India Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The theme of the Trump-Modi talks is “ongoing cooperation,” White House spokesman Sean Spicer said. Their agenda includes counterterrorism, defense partnership in the Indo-Pacific region, trade, law enforcement, and energy.

The leaders of the world’s two biggest democracies also are looking to establish a personal rapport during their first face-toface meeting as they search for common ground on issues of dispute.

Before their meeting, Trump told Modi he had been “reading about you and you have done a great job economically. India is doing very well.”

Modi said he was grateful for the “warm welcome” from Trump.
