RAIDERS’ CONLEY WILL NOT FACE CHARGES
Oakland Raiders first-round pick
Gareon Conley will not face charges linked to the sexual assault investigation of the former Ohio State cornerback, prosecutors in Cleveland announced Monday. A woman, according to the police report, told police that on April 9 Conley pulled down her pants and began to have sex with her in a hotel bathroom despite her pleas to stop. Cleveland police forwarded the investigation to a grand jury impaneled in Cuyahoga County. “After a thorough investigation by the Cleveland Police Department, the facts and circumstances surrounding the allegations of sexual assault against Gareon Conley were presented to a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury,” Cuyahoga County prosecutor Michael C. O’Mal
ley said in a statement. “The grand jury returned a ‘No Bill’ on all possible charges.” A “no bill” is issued when a grand jury didn’t find sufficient cause to endorse an indictment. Conley was the No. 24 overall pick in April’s NFL draft. “I’m excited for Gareon and the Raiders for the process to work,” Raiders general manager
Reggie McKenzie said in response to the decision.
