Despite USA TODAY’s recent headline, “63
million Americans exposed to unsafe drinking water,” the news on our drinking water is not all bad. Many of the worst problems could be addressed through smart, strategic investments in water infrastructure — including replacement of old lead service lines where that’s a concern. Beyond that, ensuring strong protections for our drinking water sources is a commonsense solution that benefits nearly everyone. Yet President Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency would do the exact opposite. Their proposed Clean Water Rule rollback would strip protections from critical “upstream” water resources on which we all rely. Drinking water sources for one in three Americans are at risk, but there is still time for people to weigh in on this reckless proposal. Michael Kelly Clean Water Action
