million Americans exposed to unsafe drinking water,” the news on our drinking water is not all bad. Many of the worst problems could be addressed through smart, strategic investment­s in water infrastruc­ture — including replacemen­t of old lead service lines where that’s a concern. Beyond that, ensuring strong protection­s for our drinking water sources is a commonsens­e solution that benefits nearly everyone. Yet President Trump’s Environmen­tal Protection Agency would do the exact opposite. Their proposed Clean Water Rule rollback would strip protection­s from critical “upstream” water resources on which we all rely.
