SANDUSKY EMPATHIZES WITH TV COLLEAGUE LEE

-

If there’s one person who can speak with experience about dealing with fallout from his name, it’s Gerry Sandusky. Not the former

Penn State football assistant coach Jerry Sandus

ky, who was convicted of sexually assaulting children. Gerry Sandusky, the longtime Baltimore sportscaster. He spoke to The Bal

timore Sun about how he believed ESPN should have handled broadcaster Rob

ert Lee’s situation when he was switched from a game in Charlottesville, Va. Sandusky said Lee would have been better off just doing the game and dealing with whatever happened: “Exactly, because the one thing we can always control is our reaction. And as soon as you understand that if you don’t react to the haters, you take their power away. People are free to hate all they want. But if you don’t react to it, then you don’t add any fuel to the fire, and eventually it’ll die out. America’s gone through much bigger crises than a broadcaster named Gerry Sandusky or a broadcaster named Robert Lee.”
