STATES EXPAND INQUIRY INTO OPIOID INDUSTRY

Attorneys general from most states are broadening their investigat­ion into the opioid industry as a nationwide overdose crisis claims thousands of lives.

They announced Tuesday that they had served subpoenas requesting informatio­n from five companies that make prescripti­on painkiller­s and demanded informatio­n from three distributo­rs.

3 CHARGED WITH INCITING RIOT AT GEORGIA TECH

Three people face charges after clashes with campus police at Georgia Tech after a vigil for a student fatally shot by officers, a university spokesman said Tuesday.

Police shot and killed Scout Schultz, 21, Saturday after the student called 911 to report an armed and possibly intoxicate­d suspicious person, the Georgia Bureau of Investigat­ion said.

The bureau on Tuesday identified the officer who shot Schultz as Tyler Beck.

DONALD TRUMP JR. ENDS SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s oldest son, is giving up his Secret Service protection, according to a person familiar with the matter. The Secret Service said that “to ensure the safety and security of our protectees and their families we will not confirm who is currently receiving Secret Service protection.”

3 HOUSE DEMS ARRESTED OUTSIDE TRUMP TOWER

Three Democratic lawmakers were arrested Tuesday outside Trump Tower in New York City as part of a pro-DREAM Act demonstrat­ion, their offices confirmed. Reps. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, Raul Grijalva of Arizona and Adriano Espaillat of New York were among those calling on Congress to pass a “clean bill” that would shield DREAMers, undocument­ed immigrants who were brought into the country as children.
