CATALANS VOW PEACEFUL INDEPENDENCE VOTE

Authorities in Catalonia aim to ensure that a disputed referendum on independence from Spain will take place peacefully Sunday, Interior Minister Joaquin Forn said Thursday in Barcelona. He said that the vote for the region of 7.5 million people will go on even though the government says the vote is illegal.
