The White House sent a list of demands that “must be included” as part of any legislation addressing the status of immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children. The demands include funding for a southern border wall.

Blackmail with people’s lives. Why am I not surprised? Bob Keegan

If this wall is built, it will be among the worst boondoggles ever undertaken by the U.S. It will drive up our deficit and accomplish absolutely nothing to resolve our illegal immigration problem.

The southern border is not where our illegal immigration problem lies. It’s in our airports. Scott Hardy

If built properly, the border wall will keep out the illegal immigrants and help get our country back on track. And we must deport all illegal immigrants here now. Dwayne Landry

I want big beautiful roads and safe bridges built with my tax dollars. Bring back some of our military stationed all over the world and put military bases along the border, if you must. Paul Harris

Millions of patriots will volunteer to build the wall ourselves, if necessary. In fact, President Trump could have a telethon and I bet people would gladly pay for it. I would! Jeffrey Davidson

Thinking a wall will stop illegal immigration is just as ridiculous as believing Mexico will pay for it. But a lot of the gullible people fell for the latter, so maybe they’ll fall for the former. Rich Barnes

All who are here illegally should be deported immediately! The U.S. has a legal immigration system. Go out and get in line!

Non-citizens are uninvited guests, yet they act like they have a say in this matter. Peter Frohwein

If they start penalizing employers who hire these undocumented workers, then no need for a wall or other wasteful nonsense. But the quintessential “buy low, sell high” would no longer be there, even for Trump’s companies. Jeff Mayo

We asked our followers whether President Trump will get funding for the border wall in exchange for a legal path for young, undocumented immigrant to stay in the U.S.

I would like to think Congress has gotten wise to Trump’s game. You can’t hold good people hostage for a wall. @DWR_ALO

Why is border wall funding even controversial? At worst, it’s a waste of money. At best, it helps reduce illegal immigration. @AndeyJA

Young adults who contribute to America should not be bargaining chips. Billions for a wall while so many go deported for an ego. @stetayen

We the people demand the wall or no deal. @ Obxluvr63

Congress might not have a choice. In order for these “dreamers” to stay in the U.S., it might have to give Trump the money. @ReidUrban
