4 Americans killed in weekend Kabul attack by Taliban militants
Four Americans were among 22 people killed in an assault by Taliban militants who stormed a luxury hotel in the Afghan capital of Kabul over the weekend, the U.S. State Department confirmed Wednesday. Two other Americans were injured in Saturday’s attack.
Attackers wearing suicide vests stormed the Hotel Intercontinental. More than 150 people were rescued by authorities or escaped the siege, which ended after a 13-hour gunbattle. The Afghan Interior Ministry said the attackers were killed.
NBC reported that American Glenn Selig, CEO of a Florida-based public relations company was among the dead. The State Department has not identified the victims.
