Haas in­jured in fa­tal crash

Pro golfer Bill Haas was in­jured in a fa­tal car crash Tues­day night in Pa­cific Pal­isades, Calif. The PGA Tour and Haas’ man­ager, Allen Hobbs, con­firmed in a state­ment Wed­nes­day morn­ing that Haas, 35, was a pas­sen­ger in the Fer­rari that was in­volved. Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, Haas avoided se­ri­ous in­juries and was plan­ning to re­turn to his home in Greenville, S.C., after his re­lease from the hospi­tal. The Fer­rari and a BMW col­lided on a res­i­den­tial block in the wealthy Pa­cific Pal­isades neigh­bor­hood Tues­day evening, ac­cord­ing to Los An­ge­les po­lice Of­fi­cer James Stoughton. A third ve­hi­cle driven by ac­tor Luke Wil­son was clipped by the Fer­rari, an LAPD spokesper­son told USA TO­DAY. Wil­son was not hurt. The Fer­rari’s driver, who died at the scene, was a mem­ber of the fam­ily that Haas was staying with as he pre­pared to play this week in the Ge­n­e­sis Open at nearby Riviera Coun­try Club.
