Sheriff who kept money from jail food program loses election
An Alabama sheriff who made money from the county jail’s food program was defeated in a primary election.
In Alabama, sheriffs can profit from jail meals. Before Tuesday’s Republican primary election, Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin released tax forms showing he made $672,392 from the jail kitchen in 2015 and 2016.
Rainbow City Police Chief Jonathon Horton won the primary.
